My main partition is still Thanks, JC. Looks like it is working now Metered internet connection at the house, work is a free for all, and as much as you can download in 8 hours Thanks again.
Thanks, JC The files were showing in accounts but when you clicked on a link to download them the window that would normally bring up the download manager was showing a error.
Thanks Jack. We reproduced both errors - files listed but links to errors as well as no files listed. Both issues have been solved. Regards, JC. Regards, JC Thanks for the fix. Have a safe 4th! All good now, downloaded, installed, and tested Thanks Avid for the quick response!
Logged into my account I can't download any products in my account. I tried Pro Tools A window will appear, blank. I even tried just right clicking on a file, to "save linked file as" but the download would never start, and just timed out. I'm experiencing the same symptoms described in the threads started on July 3, just a couple weeks ago where people could not download files from their accounts. I know we live in a world where everything cost something now, but there's not even a place where I can send an email directly to support.
I see the phone numbers, and there is still a "per incident" number, but only if you have that ACS Avid Customer Support? We used to could use a credit card for a support call. I'm going out of town. And I can't contact anyone in a fast way without paying eighty dollars. Super excited about this! Safari and Firefox. Yes, Firefox on OSX.
Maybe check your Java for updates? Thanks for your replies, Drew. In order to use the Download Manager with akamai downloads in your avid account, you would need to install Oracle Java: www. If you have tried everything else, try downloading that, quitting all browsers, installing Java, and restarting. I just tried this to see what's up and something interesting happened - I logged into my Avid account, went to the page where my products were and clicked on the PT No Avid download manager.
This is in Firefox Same url as the old name though. Like I said - works just fine. I'm having the same issue, running safari and firefox on I installed the latest Java, restarted, adjusted the security settings, etc. Makes me want to tear my hair out. There have been a lot of issues with this, actually, from what I've seen on the webs.
Would be nice if someone from Avid could give a definitive fix, or address it at least. I just wanna make some music! So frustrating. Guess I'll try again Tried again, made sure the plug-in was activated in Firefox 30, and still nothing. Using either browser, I never get a Java prompt, just this over and over and over. Help, anyone? Just for jollies I tried on my studio daw with the latest Java download and everything worked perfectly and the download manager window came up unlike when I tried it on my other Mac where I could get the download but the download manager never came up.
Well, I never get a dialog box. Either it tries to redirect me and times out, or a smaller window opens and it times out. Same message see attachment every time. This is still NOT working. Firefox cannot find the akmedia. This is what is stopping it. I don't think it has anything to do with Java - How can Java help Firefox connect to a server? In any case I have downloaded and installed the latest Java on my Mac system.
Tried Firefox. I can click on ANY product in my account and nothing will start a download. The window may open it is usually blank, but sometimes it says "contacting akmedia Then it times out and you get the "Cannot connect to akmedia I don't think that both my computers would have the same magic problem.
Please, somebody But both at the same location, same ISP? The common denominator may be that. Might be DNS related?? Shooting in the dark here because obviously not everyone is having the same issue. Well, how many people have 2 different Internet Service Providers? And there are at least a couple other people on this thread that are having problems. It shouldn't be this tweaky to get a download from AVID.
Why are they doing something so completely special that no one else is? Why do they use that Download Manager, it has ALWAYS been tweaky, that's why there's an option not to use it as long as the window will completely load. I just got Pro Tools 11 to download. Then I tried to get PT It's now back to being stupid. Just throwing my name in. I'm having the same problem. I've got Java running fine and I tried Firefox, Chrome, and Safari and they all return that they can't find the server at akmedia.
I'll also mention that I just downloaded stuff from my account about 2 weeks ago with exactly the same settings and all was fine, but now I can't download anything.
Ok update. Immediately after posting I clicked "try again" on the error page. The error page remained in place, but the download started, and now I seem to be able to access the pdf files normally. I think this has got to be Avid's problem, just keep trying. Same problem here. I've tries Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. There seems to be an issue with the browsers resolving the DNS address. They cannot FIND the server address to begin the download.
The address is akmedia. I'll try late tonight and see if I can get through. I've been having problems using avid's download manager, which is a javascript.
I think it started when I updated java versions. I usually click the link to download without the download manager, but I've always liked the download manager and found it to be useful.
I am running Mac I noticed that the JavaApplet used to run the Download Manager is version 1. It may be because I am on Mavericks Same problem here! Windows : ProTools : Media Composer both will not download from the following page Server not found Firefox can't find the server at akmedia.
Check the address for typing errors such as ww. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web. Skip the DL manager and use the straight link provided on the same page There is no "straight" download link on any of the web browsers I'm using Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and even Opera the only clickable link is the defining link itself, ex: Pro Tools This is pretty upsetting seeing that its happened more then once throughout the years looking at older posts and what searching for the last 6 hours has turned up.
If anyone has any information on how to get the download links to work through "My Products and Subscriptions" let me know before I go insane! Same exact problem here. I've tried most of the solutions suggested in this thread to no avail. I am having the same exact problem.
It took my activation and setup my license in iLok. But when I try to download it fails and says server or file not found. This is also happening to me as well.
Its no longer an issue of user but an issue within Avid itself. I really really really hope they fix this soon, for how much we pay to use their product its a pretty rookie mistake on their part. Original poster here - The way I finally got it to work was going to the Java site and looking up the latest version for my OS, download and install.
That fancy Download Manager they use uses Java. I also restarted all my routers and cable modem, just to get a fresh latch onto Comcast, in case that was the problem. Then, it worked - but only once. Later in the day it didn't work. Then, a couple days later it worked great. So the server is intermittent too. Also, to those who say just use the alternate link provided in the Download Manager - The problem is that the Download Manager window never opens, sometimes I got an empty white box.
I have not tried it since around July Obviously some folks are having new problems. I just tested this from home on 2 browsers with this setup: Mac OS X I updated my java and theres no java 8 update 11 it only goes to java 7 update 67 for me. I don't know what the problem an nothings helping me get Pro Tools 11 downloaded. Not cool. I still think you might be looking at a cached page with an expired download link.
The secured download links expire after a certain time, and are then automatically regenerated to a new link. You won't need the trial license, but that should at least get you to the Pro Tools 11 installer download. And you are right, the Oracle Java for Mac installer download that shows up at www. What am I doing wrong? I registered everything the correct way, I have the ilok in place, the only thing that's holding me back is the JANKY avid download page. WHY does avid have to be so complicated with the download process?
I've never had so much trouble downloading a piece of software, its absolutely ridiculous. Hey guys. I'm new to the forum hello! That's where I encountered the problems and tried all the offered solutions, to no avail. I also teach at a music school one day a week. That's where I'm writing from right now. I brought my laptop to the school and as soon as I tried it from here, it worked immediately.
I'm only moderately internet-savvy, but this leads me to believe that my ISP is blocking access for some reason. I've been getting cranky at Avid the past few days, but it turns out my grumpiness may have been misdirected - maybe it's my ISP's fault.
Can someone else try this? Simply bring your laptop to another place with WiFi work, coffee shop, etc and see if it works. Has anyone tried downloading from another location yet? Curious to see if this solution works for other folks. I click the update link and can't get there. All day. I just tested it from home on my own avid account, and downloaded the Pro Tools Have you tried refreshing the page with the link on it in your Avid account before clicking on the download link?
The links do expire after a certain amount of time, so that may help. I log into my Avid account and click on the blue lined Please help. Both Pro Tools Do you have another browser you can try? Firefox, Safari, IE? At work also in a university environment , I did have this happen once yesterday but upon reload the download started coming in. Why use the digidesign. I dunno if that's the problem but it seems backwards since the Digidesign brand name was phased out 4 years ago. What gives???
Because I had the same issues I will tell how I worked around these issues: 1 Use Opera as web browser it never failed 2 Download from within the ProTools application. This may work but can also fail sometimes The latest update worked for me with no workaround.
I could download everything in Safari. But on previous occasions and in previous years this problem popped up without notice and I cannot understand why AVID keeps using this Downloadmanager.
It seems an odd way to make downloading a complicated experience for which you first have to roll a dice. If the lucky number shows up it works if not..
I have the same issue. I literally just purchased Pro Tools for the first time yesterday and I can't even download it. Does anyone have a fix for this? Can you guys try it again? I just tried downloading from my account and the link worked fine. Works fine here aswell, tried both Safari and Firefox so let us know. Its still not working. Its a DNS problem I believe.
It appears to be Comcast. I tethered to my iphone and was able to start the download. Comcast must be having some server issues right now. Thanks for the responses. Out of town for a job Log in to my Avid account, find Pro Tools 11 under my products, click the download link, wait Guess I should have brought an extra copy of the install file, but of course I didn't.
Incidentally, nothing else on my account will download either Read me files, Pro Tools 10, etc. And the problem is possibly at your end, certainly where I would start debugging. The error message certainly looks that way akmedia.
Who's network are you on? Is there a firewall or are you directly connected? Can you download any large files from anywhere else. Are you trying to use the Avid download manager or download directly try directly. Yes, I've thought of that. However, it's not a problem with the file size. And I don't ever use the download manager, but for some odd reason the Avid site isn't even giving me the option to Maybe it's possible there's another way to go about the download on avid.
Just tethered to my iPhone and the download is happening hello, phone bill. Thanks and sorry for the false alarm. I have had issues downloading and even signing in to avid's site on different computers. One computer works fine and is consistent, the other will not download programs under my account. Both are Macs. I have found that signing into the forum then browsing over to the avid site from the top of the page works for me for downloads consistently, if that makes any sense.
Hey all I'm frustrated. I want to vent So, I go to the registered products page in my account on the Avid site, and the installer link for PT Plus, when I try to view the PT Anybody have a similar experience, or know what the heck is up with that? Thanks for any help you might be able to give!! We had a few similar reports earlier this week.
What are the file names or URLs? We did have similar reports earlier this week, but that should have been resolved. I'm downloading the Pro Tools I'm using safari with the latest osx. Try Firefox? Been trying to download the AIR plug ins. But anything I try to download from my AVID products page gives me: "can't find the server at akmedia. But thought the heads up might be useful. The Direct links seem to be working for me. Maybe give that a try. I'm logging into my account on Avid.
Tried different machines, networks, browsers. Welcome to the community, and thanks for reporting this. We've been getting reports like this for about a week now and the problem is intermittent so it's been tough to track down the root cause.
We are still working on it. Okay, I think I found the solution. I am using Firefox, and something made me think about using Internet Explorer, and that seemed to work, but I haven't downloaded the installer yet. I have to get a bloody Ilok 2 first. By the way, will Ilok 1 not work at all, or is it just not supported?
Strangely, even though I have "instant email notification" turned on, I didn't get any notification that you guys had all answered! Thanks for all the help, okay? Works for me on Chrome. If you try to place a license that requires an iLok 2 2nd generation on an iLok 1 first generation key style you get this error So it is not supported and will not work at all for any license that requires the new protocols of an iLok v2. I started a download earlier , but it failed midway through and the site is indeed down again.
I don't ever do anything to get it to come back. It just comes back, sooner or later. Meanwhile, they're usually in the Recent list in Adobe Reader, so it's no huge deal. It would be nice to know why PT can't always "find" or "see" the help docs. I have this problem too. More than once, I have used the web installer.
